Vigorous efforts to contain health care costs combined with an aging population that is living longer than before, makes for a great opportunity for businesses in this industry.
However, the home health services industry is a knowledge and information intensive business. There is patient information to safeguard, staff and client schedules to manage, legislation to stay in compliance with and claims to process. Many businesses that enter this industry start with a paper based process. However, this becomes a barrier to growth as making the transition from paper to PC is not easy and potentially disruptive to day to day operations. As a result, many home health providers stay relatively small.
